Even when we have a clear vision and goal, we tend to focus too much on small details. And we tend to take others too seriously, who try to block us. While it might be frustrating in the day to day life to fight with others blocking us or trying to tell us that it won’t be working – they are not the real problem.
Think again of the harbor. When you want to discover the world, getting out to the ocean is the first goal. The boats at shore don’t even understand what we try to do, or they are jealous and want to stop us, or are simply just focussing on their own little world. Sometimes they might not even be bad people. They just don’t understand your big dream.
And once you realize this, you also understand that your biggest challenge is not the small boat temporarily blocking the exit of the harbor – you really have other things to worry. Is your trip-planning good? Enough food and water on board? Enough tools for unforeseen events? And so on…. Focus on this, the small boat at the exit will be forgotten soon and has no relevance for you. You have a much larger goal.
So – don’t pay too much attention to the traffic in the harbor. Try to get through it and then focus on the real journey.
The exit at the harbor is not the end of the journey, it’s merely the beginning.
